Charitable Giving and Social Responsibility

The Whitecourt Isga Tourism Association has taken up the responsibility of being the general contractor to provide contracting opportunities to entrepreneurs from the Nakota community. The foundation will not only aid these entrepreneurs in the development of a legitimate business but also educate them on the best business practices and management techniques, leading to a smooth flow of income for entrepreneurs who will follow the public foundation mandate.

Partnerships with local school boards and schools will facilitate indigenous youth programming opportunities, including educational class trips and learning experiences. This will help satisfy the demands of cultural reclamation and create awareness relative to Nakota culture and history.

Incarcerated Indigenous people, through Section 84 of the Criminal Code, have the option to request early release from their correctional facilities and enter a traditionally sound aboriginal program. This aspect of development presents several opportunities, not only for the inmates but also for community residents who struggle with drug and alcohol addictions, as it will become integral with spiritual and mental health healing.
This two-fold opportunity aims to assist community residents who have fallen victim to the biased system of the correctional program while simultaneously helping young adults aged 18-30 from within the community.
